The attack involved the deployment of malicious contracts within the ApeCoin ecosystem, enabling the hacker to execute unauthorized transactions. It is still unclear how the hacker managed to identify and exploit these vulnerabilities, but it highlights the importance of robust security measures in the DeFi space.

One of the transactions executed by the hacker can be traced back to the address 0xe855cc3ba, which involved the transfer of 100 ETH to Tornado Cash, a privacy-focused Ethereum mixer service. By utilizing Tornado Cash, the hacker aims to obfuscate the source of the funds, making it difficult to track and recover them.

Furthermore, this attack didn’t stop at stealing funds. The hacker also targeted non-fungible tokens (NFTs) within the ApeCoin ecosystem. The stolen NFTs include one Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT, six Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC) NFTs, and two Bored Ape Kennel Club (BAKC) NFTs.
