You are not alone if Word deletes your documents for you

Microsoft recently warned Windows users that Word is deleting some documents instead of saving them.

According to the company, the bug only affects users with build 18025.20104 of Word version 2409 on their computers. Moreover, the problem only then does it applyif the application prompts them to save the file while closing. Once this is done, the document you want to save may be deleted.

In the case of faulty versions, Word only deletes your documents if their name contains the character “#” or if they have a .DOCX or .RTF extension.

A Microsoft according to its statement, they are investigating the case and are working to correct the error as soon as possible. Until this is resolved, they have advised that their users with this problem can avoid this by finding the deleted documents in their computer’s recycle bin.

However, it is important to note that the problem does not occur when you manually save the file, as it is only the save function that pops up after closing the document that contains the error. Another temporary solution is to go back to the previous version until a fix is released.

Last month, there was another issue with Microsoft 365 that affected things like Outlook, Word, Excel, and OneNote. In doing so, it caused a crash while typing or spell-checking text, which they eventually managed to fix.
