Revolut did not open any positions in Hungary

In recent years, Revolut has dramatically increased its presence globally, especially in Central and Eastern Europe. The fintech company has become one of the most popular financial applications in Europe by 2023, and they have also achieved serious growth in Hungary.

The innovative fintech company has started looking for future employees for its Hungarian branch planned to open in the near future. About the recruitment by an employee of Revolut Bank UAB reportedand the advertised positions are now available on Revolut’s career portal.

Revolut has started recruiting in Hungary

According to preliminary news, Revolut wanted to open its branch in Hungary in 2024, but this is expected to be postponed to the beginning of 2025. The Hungarian branch would allow the nearly 1.5 million Hungarian users to have local bank account numbers with a Hungarian IBAN. The company’s goal is for Revolut to become the primary bank in the region, facilitating wage transfers and direct connection to the local financial system.

Currently on the Hungarian market Legal Counsel, Finance Manager and Regulatory Compliance Manager they are looking for specialists for positions. Revolut its official career portal according to which all positions are available remotely, i.e. working remotely.

According to expectations, Revolut is also looking for customer service staff, product developers, compliance staff, staff dealing with legal issues and operational management. Later plans include the creation of business development positions and jobs related to corporate customer management.

They would not require a Hungarian banking license

A fintech company opening the branch in Hungary would not require a Hungarian banking license. This means that the Lithuanian bank deposit insurance would still apply to the accounts, but at the same time the Hungarian account data would be assigned to the forint-based accounts.

As a result, receiving wages to Revolut accounts would be more flexible and simpler, and the branch could even bring the domestic instant bank transfer patent.

Tamás Élder, head of Revolut in Hungary, previously stated that the bank will not pass on to users the transaction fee that will come into effect on October 1st. According to the head of the company, tens of billions of HUF are paid into the state coffers after the transactions of Hungarian users, but he does not know how sustainable this process is in the long term.

Revolut’s plans in Hungary

The goal of the fintech company is to reach 2 million users on the Hungarian market this year. Hungarian customers see the advantages of Revolut mainly in international transactions and fast and low-cost financial services. In addition, Revolut is constantly expanding its product range, which is in great demand not only globally, but also in the Hungarian market.

In addition to investments (commodities, shares, cryptocurrencies), personal loans, mortgages and insurance are also available on the platform. Payment services are also especially popular in Hungary, which provide users with premium bank cards and travel-related benefits.
