New Telegram Update: Enhanced Video Features and Developer Tools

The latest update from Telegram has introduced significantly improved video capabilities and a host of new tools for developers, as reported by Telegram. The update, announced on October 31, 2024, includes faster video loading, improved quality, and new speed controls, alongside new monetization strategies for developers and increased limits for mini apps.

The video feature enhancements include a dynamic video player feature for large channels that automatically selects the optimal video quality based on the user’s internet connection. This feature aims to save data and ensure faster video loading, and users can also manually choose between high, medium, or low quality. iOS users will also now be able to switch to Picture-in-Picture mode more easily by swiping up when browsing chats.

For channels with thousands of subscribers, the new video quality features allow creators to post high-quality videos without needing to pre-process them. The platform will automatically optimize and compress videos into several quality levels, benefitting users with weak and strong internet connections alike.

The update also simplifies the process of adjusting video playback speed, allowing users to speed up videos with gestures at speeds up to 2.5x without navigating through settings. Furthermore, Telegram has made it easier to edit sent messages by letting users attach media to messages post-sending and by providing timestamps for last edits.

Telegram’s latest update introduces new monetization options via Telegram Ads, which are now integrated with bots and mini apps. This initiative supports developers by sharing 50% of ad revenue, providing a new revenue stream for supporting app development. Additionally, Telegram has increased message limits for bots, allowing up to 1000 messages per second for a small fee.

Other noteworthy updates include chat-specific hashtags, which allow group and channel owners to create hashtags showing posts only from the same chat. This can be achieved using the format #hashtag@username. Users can also now see the exact number of reactions their posts receive thanks to precise reaction counters.

These updates demonstrate Telegram’s dedication to improving the user experience and supporting developers with innovative tools and monetization options. As the platform continues to evolve, users can anticipate even more improvements in future updates.
