Moscow Exchange withdraws from Russia’s cryptocurrency trading trial program

According to BlockBeats, on September 9, Russia’s largest securities market, the Moscow Exchange, chose not to participate in a pilot program for cryptocurrency trading. The result has been confirmed by Trunikkin, the exchange’s head of digital projects.

The decision comes after the Russian State Duma passed a legislative package in July to legalize digital currencies, allowing them to be traded on exchanges supervised by the central bank. While the Moscow Exchange chose not to join the plan, the St. Petersburg Stock Exchange (SPB Exchange) said it plans to actively participate in cryptocurrency trading trials.

The legal framework aims to regulate the operation of digital currency transactions in the Russian financial system under the strict control of financial authorities.
