Jack Dorsey, Algorand, and Crypto Scam Queen in Africa: The Latest News!

In this week’s Africa crypto review, there have been some major developments. Former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey is set to attend the third Africa Bitcoin Conference in Nairobi from December 9 to 11. This conference is important in spreading crypto awareness on the continent, and Dorsey is returning after his appearance at the inaugural event in Accra, Ghana.

Kenyan lawmakers are being urged to prioritize regulating crypto and allowing banks to serve crypto firms, as the country risks following Nigeria’s hostile laws, which could be costly in the long term. Meanwhile, Algorand, a proof-of-stake blockchain platform, has identified Taraba State in Nigeria as a potential area to boost adoption rates.

They have partnered with the state government to introduce events such as hackathons and training to increase regional blockchain awareness. Lastly, infamous crypto swindler Ruja Ignatova is reportedly hiding in South Africa, according to German publication Der Spiegel. She lives in an affluent neighborhood in Cape Town, far away from the European countries where she pulled her Onecoin scam in 2018.
