EU Going Dark Plan: Secret Surveillance and Encryption Undermining Scheme Revealed EU Going Dark plan: Secret surveillance and encryption undermining scheme revealed

The EU is reportedly working on a new surveillance and encryption-undermining plan called “EU Going Dark,” according to Patrick Breyer, a former German member of the European Parliament. This plan is said to be in development by the High-Level Group (HLG) of Effective Law Enforcement, and it aims to introduce measures that would allow for indiscriminate data collection and weaken online encryption.

Critics argue that these measures are “tyrannical” and “scary,” making it difficult for people to maintain privacy and security online. If the plan is accurate, it would require hardware manufacturers to ensure constant observation of phones, smart home devices, cars, and other devices, while also making it a requirement for encrypted messaging apps to intercept content, prevent subscriber data and metadata encryption, and hand over GPS locations to relevant authorities.
