AI startup Crusoe Energy is raising $500 million at a $3 billion valuation, led by Peter Thiel’s fund

BlockBeats reported that on October 31, Bitcoin.comNews reported that AI infrastructure company Crusoe Energy is about to complete about $500 million in equity financing, led by billionaire Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund. This round of financing brings the company’s valuation to $3 billion, doubling from two years ago. A few weeks ago, Crusoe Energy just announced a $3.4 billion joint venture agreement with Lancium Clean Campus to build a data center in Texas.

Crusoe Energy completed $200 million in financing and purchased thousands of Nvidia H100 GPUs at the end of 2023. According to a PitchBook report, 40% of the total venture capital expenditure of $93 billion in the first half of 2024 went to AI companies. Founders Fund has reportedly been involved in the company’s financing since the seed round in 2019. The fund has also previously invested in OpenAI, which is valued at over $157 billion.
