Zimbabwe Demands License Fees from WhatsApp Group Admins for Accountability

In Zimbabwe, the government has introduced a licensing requirement for WhatsApp group administrators to control misinformation and increase accountability on social media platforms. The fees for the license

vary from $50 to $2,500, depending on the group type. To obtain a license from the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ), administrators must provide personal information.
