Ukrainian man was robbed in Thailand and released after transferring 250,000 USDT

BlockBeats news, on November 11, according to the Bangkok Post, a Ukrainian man told police that he was forced to transfer more than 8 million baht worth of cryptocurrency to a group of armed men while visiting a friend’s room.

Viacheslav Leibov, 23, told the police on Sunday that his Ukrainian friend Alfred Chernyshuk, 18, invited him to his friend’s room at about 10:45 Friday night.

At the entrance of the friend’s residence, Leibov was received by a 21-year-old Armenian man, Arman Grigoryan, and brought into the room.

The victim initially spoke to the men on the balcony of the room. Then he needed to use the restroom. When he opened the bathroom door, he found two masked men waiting for him inside.

Mr Leibov said he asked the gangsters to halve the ransom. After completing the transfer of 250,000 USDT, the gangster tied him to the bed, warned him not to report the case, then packed up his things and left the scene.

The victim said he eventually managed to save himself. Mr Leibov said he immediately rode his motorbike to Phuket Airport but did not see one of the suspects. He then reported the incident at the police station.
