On Thursday, US President-elect Trump announced that the Government Efficiency Group led by Musk will release a report on its work to streamline the US government. The report will consist of separate reports and one large report. Trump said this is the first time he has provided new details about the panel’s report since announcing it earlier this week.
Trump said the panel will “provide advice and guidance from outside the government” to streamline the government, cut regulations, reduce spending and reorganize federal agencies. Both Trump and Musk have said the group will make significant budget cuts. However, the U.S. Constitution gives Congress power over the federal budget.
Congress can accept or ignore recommendations from outside panels, such as the proposed Efficiency Panel.
