Paul Atkins wants to let crypto mom Hester Peirce lead cryptocurrency policy

On December 5, US President-elect Trump nominated Paul Atkins as the next chairman of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). According to a source, Paul Atkins recently expressed his desire for Republican Commissioner Hester Peirce, also known as “Crypto Mom,” to lead cryptocurrency policy alongside her fellow Republican, Mark Uyeda, who has an industry background.

Hester Peirce aims to lead an internal cryptocurrency working group that would reassess the SEC’s approach to regulating digital assets and promote open dialogue with the industry. Peirce’s term is set to end in June, and it is unclear if she would agree to be renominated. Mark Uyeda’s term will continue until 2028.
