In a move that further integrates cryptocurrencies into mainstream platforms, Telegram users can now transfer USDT through the app’s @wallet bot. The Tether stablecoin is the world’s largest by market cap and is pegged to the value of the US dollar.
The announcement was made by Telegram’s blockchain team, The Open Network, on Wednesday. With over 700 million users worldwide, Telegram’s decision to add USDT to its @wallet bot expands the app’s facility for buying and selling crypto.
Previously, Telegram users were able to buy and sell Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) through the app’s @botfather bot. The addition of USDT to the @wallet bot now allows users to transact with the stablecoin within the chat interface, making it more convenient for those who use USDT for payments or investments.
As the popularity of stablecoins continues to grow, Telegram’s move to integrate USDT into its messaging platform could help bring cryptocurrencies closer to mainstream adoption. With the ability to conduct USDT transactions through the app’s chat interface, Telegram is positioning itself as a player in the crypto space, offering users more options and convenience when it comes to buying, selling, and sending digital assets.
Overall, the integration of USDT into Telegram’s @wallet bot is a significant development in the evolution of cryptocurrencies and could pave the way for further integration of digital assets into mainstream platforms.
