Teenager Accused of Financing Terrorism Through Cryptocurrency

A 16-year-old boy from London is accused of funding terrorism and related crimes by offering his cryptocurrency and cyber security expertise to Al-Qaeda and the Pakistani Taliban. The teenager has pleaded not guilty to five charges including possession of terroristic documents, terrorist training, and terrorist financing.

Although he was released on bail, he is subject to a night curfew and communication restrictions, including a ban on social media use and PlayStation online gaming. The use of cryptocurrencies for financing terrorism is becoming more common, but it still represents a small percentage of total cryptocurrency transactions.
