Selling gas and oil in exchange for Bitcoins? So believes this Russian lawmaker.

Russia’s Committee on Energy’s head, Pavel Zavalny, announced earlier today that friendly countries will be able to pay for oil, gas, and other commodities in Bitcoin.

The comment comes as Russian lawmakers seek to mitigate the economic harm caused by US and EU sanctions by increasing commerce with “friendly” countries.

While it may appear that Russia may use Bitcoin to dodge sanctions, there’s a good probability it’s really a government ruse to divert attention away from its rapid de-dollarization of exports.

The de-dollarization of Russia has made Bitcoin a scapegoat.
