Vitalik Buterin, the creator of Ethereum, has been put forward as a nominee for the Nobel Prize in Economics.
The nomination stemmed from Tyler Cowen during a podcast discussion with fellow economist Alex Tabarrok, as they praised Buterin for his accomplishments in monetary systems. This includes Ethereum’s technological milestones, such as the switch from proof-of-work to proof-of-stake, and the various philanthropic activities he supports. Ethereum was originally designed to extend beyond Bitcoin, supporting decentralized applications and financial tools, while also pushing economic theory boundaries.
