Metaplanet, a Tokyo-listed Bitcoin holder, recently acquired an additional 108.786 Bitcoin for 1 billion yen, showcasing its bullish outlook on the popular cryptocurrency. This purchase brings Metaplanet’s total Bitcoin holdings to 639.503 BTC, valued at approximately $40.6 million. The company has been steadily increasing its Bitcoin reserves over the past few months and has been adopting the cryptocurrency as a key part of its treasury reserve strategy.
In addition to the latest Bitcoin purchase, Metaplanet sold 223 Bitcoin put option contracts with a strike price of $62,000 to Singapore-based digital asset trading firm QCP Capital. This strategic move resulted in a premium of 23.972 BTC ($1.44 million) and provided a nominal return of 10.75% and an annualized return of 45.63%. The company also secured a significant loan in August to boost its Bitcoin reserves, further solidifying its commitment to cryptocurrency accumulation.
