Metaplanet, a Japan-based company, has entered the ranks of the world’s top Bitcoin-holding firms by amassing over 1,000 BTC. On October 28th, it acquired 156.78 BTC, investing $10.4 million, raising its total Bitcoin holdings to 1,018.17 BTC, currently valued at around $68.8 million. This achievement aligns with Metaplanet’s decision in May to make Bitcoin a strategic reserve asset, and since then, the company has rapidly increased its Bitcoin assets, with its largest acquisition period recorded between September 30th and October 28th, during which it purchased 619.338 BTC, securing its status as a major Bitcoin holder.
According to data from blockchain analytics company Arkham Intelligence, Metaplanet’s Bitcoin investment is yielding strong results, with an unrealized gain exceeding $6 million amid the top crypto’s recent price uptick. Metaplanet CEO Simon Gerovich commented on this milestone, stating that the company now owns more than 1000 BTC, making it one of the largest corporate holders of Bitcoin in Asia, and hinted at the company’s intent to continue accumulating Bitcoin.
