“MakerDAO Founder Proposes Strict Deflationary Tokenomics Amid Rebranding”

As voting approaches for whether MakerDAO should revert successfully back to the original Maker brand or proceed as Sky, the project’s founder has presented non-inflationary tokenomics to simplify integration and minimize holder confusion.

Under Rune Christensen’s suggested protocol changes, SKY tokens would become strictly deflationary, with regular emissions eliminated and self-sustained growth promoted. ARK token holders could participate in governance activities and benefit from “Star Token Rewards,” including Spark (SPK), which would be earned and activated upon implementing changes in the Seal Engine.

On Nov. 11, a community vote will determine whether to keep the established Maker brand, revert to the original, or fully adopt the Sky identity, further restructuring the ecosystem. An auxiliary role for Maker, backing Sky’s collateral, is also under consideration.

The newly proposed restructuring revolves around a dual-Star system, with Maker (MKR) or SKY tokens emphasizing collateral allocation, incentives, and governance while Sky focuses on USDS adoption, increasing rewards and benefits to ensure growth.
