Japan’s Prime Minister Reorganizes Web3 and Crypto Policy Departments

On November 29, BlockBeats reported that Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba reorganized the ruling party’s Web3 and cryptocurrency policy-making departments. Digital Minister Taira Shoaki announced at a forum on November 27 that the Liberal Democratic Party will disband the existing Web3 Project Team and establish a specialized agency within the party’s digital society promotion department, led by former Web3 PT Secretary-General Shiozaki Akihisa.

The government plans to continue promoting the development of Web3-related businesses and advocate for reforming Japan’s cryptocurrency tax regulations. According to Ishiba’s campaign platform, the government intends to use blockchain technology and NFTs to promote local development projects and enhance the value of local products, such as food and tourism experiences, on a global scale.
