The Ethereum Foundation has launched a new testnet called Mekong, designed to help developers learn about its features before the Pectra update. Mekong includes all development proposals for Pectra and will be available for a short time as a testing ground for wallet developers and stakers. The testnet allows developers to experiment with upcoming updates without affecting the mainnet or other Ethereum testnets like Holesky or Sepolia.
The Pectra update aims to improve Ethereum’s scalability, efficiency, and security, and is set to be integrated into the main network in two parts, with the first part scheduled for next February.
