According to BlockBeats, on September 27, Bitcoin mining company Hut 8 announced that its new GPU as a service (GPUaaS) business has begun to generate revenue. The service provides customers with GPU computing power leasing to support high-performance tasks such as AI processing. Hut 8 has partnered with Hewlett Packard Enterprise and AdvizeX to design and launch new computing clusters through its subsidiary Highrise AI. The five-year partnership includes fixed infrastructure payments and a revenue sharing agreement with an unnamed AI cloud developer.
Hut 8’s GPUaaS cluster is deployed in a Tier 3 data center in Chicago and consists of multiple HPE Cray supercomputers equipped with 1,000 NVIDIA H100 GPUs. Hut 8 CEO Asher Genoot said the launch of the GPU-as-a-service business further diversified the company’s computing layer, which now covers AI computing, Bitcoin mining and traditional cloud services.
