Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission: Increased Focus on Blockchain Technology of Virtual Assets and Its FinTech and Services

BlockBeats News, November 11th. In a statement, the CEO of the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission, Ashley Alder, mentioned that despite Bitcoin’s recent strong performance, the focus of the commission is more on the blockchain technology behind virtual assets and the financial technology and services it generates.

The commission will accelerate the development of a blockchain-based financial technology ecosystem, including tokenized bonds and investment products, to enhance traditional financial settlement efficiency. Ashley Alder pointed out that central bank digital currencies and stablecoins can effectively reduce the cost of cross-border remittances, and he suggested providing more opportunities in the technology development stage.

Furthermore, the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission plans to establish a biannual regular meeting mechanism with regulatory agencies in the Middle East, with the first meeting scheduled to be held in Hong Kong next year. (Golden Ten)
