US Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Gary Gensler is making one last attempt to convince the SEC to regulate the cryptocurrency market. In a speech at a legal conference in New York, Gensler emphasized the importance of rules for cryptocurrency sales and intermediaries, such as brokers and trading platforms, to support proper disclosures.
He cited the experience of the Great Recession, stressing that policymakers need to prioritize disclosure provisions to make information about securities a public good.
