On November 4, Dan Romero, co-founder of Farcaster, shared on social media that certain large consumer financial technology applications, such as PayPal, Coinbase, and Cash App, may be impacted in future elections. He suggested that interesting products and channels for pollsters include a large and diverse group of retail investors, knowledge of users’ residential address and citizenship status, the ability to send push notifications and respond to quick polls within mobile apps, and engaging populations that typically do not respond to polls if anonymity and aggregation are maintained.
The possibility of this happening is low, but it is still an important consideration for pollsters and election organizers.
