Base Launches Fault Proofs on Mainnet, Advancing Towards Decentralization
Base, a layer 2 scaling solution, has introduced Fault proofs on its mainnet, enabling anyone to propose or challenge L2 state in a permissionless manner, according to an official announcement on October 31.
The implementation of Fault proofs is a crucial step towards decentralization for Base. Another significant milestone in reaching the initial stage of decentralization is the addition of the Security Council to Base’s contract upgrade key.
Once this step is completed, Base will only be able to execute contract upgrades based on actions taken by the Optimism Security Council. The Optimism Security Council will only take actions that have been approved by Optimism Governance.
