Base Launches Fault Proofs on Mainnet, Advancing Towards Decentralization
Base, a Layer 2 scaling solution, has announced the launch of Fault proofs on its mainnet. This development allows anyone to raise or question proposals related to the L2 status in a permissionless manner, marking a significant step towards decentralization.
According to the official announcement, the addition of the Security Council to Base’s contract upgrade key is another crucial milestone for the platform to reach the first stage of decentralization. Once this step is completed, Base will only be able to perform contract upgrades based on actions taken by the Optimism Security Council. The Optimism Security Council will only take actions approved by Optimism Governance, further strengthening the platform’s decentralization.
Fault proofs are essential for ensuring the security and integrity of Layer 2 solutions like Base. By allowing anyone to raise or question proposals related to the L2 status, the community can actively participate in maintaining the platform’s security and reliability. This permissionless approach aligns with the core principles of decentralization, enabling a more transparent and trustless ecosystem.
As Base continues to make strides towards decentralization, the launch of Fault proofs on its mainnet represents a significant achievement. The platform’s commitment to transparency, security, and community governance sets a strong foundation for its future growth and adoption in the blockchain space.
