Fault Proofs Launched on Base Mainnet: A Step Towards Decentralization

Base Launches Fault Proofs on Mainnet, Advancing Towards Decentralization

Base, a layer 2 scaling solution, has announced the launch of Fault proofs on its mainnet. This development allows anyone to raise or question proposals related to the L2 status in a permissionless manner, marking a significant step towards decentralization.

According to the official announcement, the addition of the Security Council to Base’s contract upgrade key is another crucial milestone in reaching the first stage of decentralization. Once this step is completed, Base will only be able to perform contract upgrades based on actions taken by the Optimism Security Council. The Optimism Security Council will only take actions approved by Optimism Governance, further enhancing the platform’s decentralization.

The introduction of Fault proofs and the integration of the Security Council demonstrate Base’s commitment to creating a more decentralized and secure ecosystem for its users. These developments are expected to strengthen the platform’s position in the layer 2 scaling landscape.
