DWF Labs Cuts Ties with Partner Accused of Inappropriate Behavior
Crypto-focused venture capital firm DWF Labs has dismissed a partner accused of spiking a woman’s drink at a company event in Hong Kong on October 24. The alleged victim, identified as “Hana,” a venture capitalist, shared her account of the incident in a thread on X.
The accused partner allegedly approached Hana under the pretext of discussing a job opportunity, describing her as a “perfect fit” for a project. Hana left her drink unattended while using the restroom and upon returning, she took a few sips before the alleged aggressor stepped out to make a call. A waitress then warned Hana that someone had tampered with her drink in her absence.
Hana felt “extremely dizzy” when she went outside, where she claims the partner attempted to lure her back to his hotel, allegedly promising “inside information” in exchange. She has since obtained CCTV footage from the bar and filed a report with Hong Kong police.
In an official statement, DWF Labs emphasized its commitment to a safe and respectful workplace, stating: “At DWF Labs, we hold the utmost respect for all individuals and are unwavering in our commitment to creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for everyone.”
The company, which boasts a crypto portfolio worth an estimated $48.7 billion, has stressed that it does not condone any actions that go against its core values of integrity, respect, and accountability. DWF Labs has also expressed solidarity with individuals affected by similar incidents and stated that it is still monitoring the situation.
Neither DWF Labs nor the victim has publicly confirmed the partner’s identity. This incident is not the first time the company has been involved in a scandal, having previously faced allegations of market manipulation in September 2023, which the company emphatically denied.
While the matter remains under investigation, DWF Labs has dismissed the accused partner from management and operational roles, effective immediately. The company has over 50% of its workforce comprised of women, reflecting its commitment to gender diversity.
