A group of nine people in Miami are being charged with hiding money made from selling drugs in the United States by turning it into a type of digital money called cryptocurrency. This money was then sent to drug groups in Mexico and Colombia. The people did this by using secret ways of exchanging money and special ways to send digital money.
This happened between 2020 and 2023. The group picked up cash from the drug sales in the United States and changed it into digital money.
