Crypto Fraudster Antonia Hernandez Sentenced to 30 Months for Forcount Scam

In a significant victory for law enforcement, a New York court has sentenced Antonia Perez Hernandez, a key promoter of the Forcount Ponzi scheme, to 30 months in prison. Hernandez pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud, admitting her role in a scam that stole millions from unsuspecting investors.

Antonia Perez Hernandez has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for her role in the Forcount Ponzi scheme, which stole $8.4 million from investors. The scam promised unusually high returns on crypto investments, but was ultimately revealed to be a web of lies.

A Web of Lies

The Forcount scheme, which operated from 2017 to 2021, promised investors that they could double their money in just six months by investing in a crypto trading and mining company. However, the firm carried out no legitimate operations, instead using an online portal to deceive investors into thinking their funds were growing. When investors tried to withdraw their “profits,” they were either unable to do so or were paid using funds from new investors.

As complaints mounted, Hernandez and her co-conspirators began selling a proprietary crypto token called “Mindexcoin,” claiming its value would skyrocket once it became widely accepted by merchants. However, this was just another layer of deception in the scheme.

Victims Lost Life Savings

The impact of the scam on its victims was devastating. Some lost their retirement savings, while others saw their marriages destroyed. During the sentencing, victims spoke out about the financial and emotional toll of the scam. One victim, appearing via video call, struggled to share their experience due to connection issues. Another, bound to a wheelchair, demanded to know how Hernandez could still be living comfortably despite her crimes.

Judge Analisa Torres, who delivered the sentence, pointed out that while Hernandez was not the mastermind behind the scheme, she played a key role in promoting the worthless token to unsuspecting investors. Hernandez expressed remorse for her role in the scam and apologized to those affected.

The sentencing of Hernandez is a significant step towards justice for the victims of the Forcount Ponzi scheme. However, the scheme’s orchestrator, Francisley Da Silva, is still in custody in Brazil, awaiting his own day in court.
