BlackRock IBIT becomes the world’s largest institutional Bitcoin holder, MicroStrategy surpasses GBTC to rank second

According to BlockBeats, on September 4, according to HODL15Capital data, as of September 1, BlackRock’s IBIT has become the world’s largest institutional Bitcoin holder, holding 357,509 Bitcoins. MicroStrategy surpassed Grayscale’s GBTC (225,671 Bitcoins) with 226,500 Bitcoins, ranking second.

Fidelity’s FBTC ETF ranks fourth with 178,349 bitcoins, and stablecoin giant Tether ranks fifth with 75,354 bitcoins. Other major institutional holders include ARK Invest/21 Shares’ ARKB (37,147 bitcoins) and bitcoin mining company Marathon Digital (25,000 bitcoins). It is worth noting that MicroStrategy announced its transformation into a “bitcoin development company” earlier this year and was the largest known institutional holder of Bitcoin before the emergence of the ETF.
