According to BlockBeats, on November 2, Bitcoin mining company Genesis Digital Assets announced that it is building a new self-hosted Bitcoin mining data center in West Texas with a capacity of 300 megawatts, with sustainable infrastructure, high efficiency and low carbon footprint. The electricity comes from the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), of which more than 40% of the energy comes from wind and solar energy. The facility will create jobs in West Texas while providing work for local contractors. As of October 2021, Genesis Digital Assets’ data center capacity exceeded 170 megawatts, which translates into a total computing power of more than 3.8 EH/s, exceeding 2.4% of the global Bitcoin mining computing power. In September, the company mined 662 bitcoins. As previously reported by BlockBeats, on July 28, Genesis Digital Assets announced the completion of a $125 million equity financing round led by Kingsway Capital. Other detailed financing information has not yet been disclosed. It is reported that Genesis plans to use the funds to purchase equipment and build new data centers in the United States and Northern Europe.
