The Linux Foundation has closed the Bitcoin mailing list, one of the central information channels for Bitcoin developers. The mailing list, which operated for almost nine years, has been moved to Google Groups where it will run on Google’s infrastructure. The mailing list played a crucial role in coordinating updates to Bitcoin Core, the foundation of Bitcoin transactions worldwide, and was the platform for important discussions, negotiations, and decisions made by developers for over ten years.
The move to Google Groups marks the end of an era as communications around Bitcoin shift to more platforms and modern means of communication.
