Base Launches Fault Proofs on Mainnet, Paving the Way for Decentralization

Base, a layer 2 scaling solution, has announced the launch of Fault proofs on its mainnet. This development allows anyone to raise or question proposals related to the L2 status in a permissionless manner, marking a significant step towards decentralization.

According to Base, the introduction of Fault proofs is a fundamental move in their decentralization journey. Another crucial milestone for Base to achieve the first stage of decentralization is the addition of the Security Council to its contract upgrade key. Once this step is completed, Base will only be able to perform contract upgrades based on actions taken by the Optimism Security Council. Moreover, the Optimism Security Council will only take actions approved by Optimism Governance.

The launch of Fault proofs on the Base mainnet is expected to enhance the platform’s security and transparency while progressing towards a more decentralized structure.
