Renowned artist Mat Collishaw is set to launch a new metaverse art experience called Heterosis, which will feature dynamic NFTs hosted by OG.Art. The project aims to explore the “mutability” of NFTs and how they can be used to create unique and ever-changing works of art.

Collishaw, who is known for his mixed media installations that explore themes of beauty and decay, spoke to Decrypt’s Dan Roberts at the recent NFT Paris event about his journey into the world of Web3 and NFTs.

“I’ve always been interested in the idea of creating something that’s constantly changing, that’s not fixed in time,” Collishaw said. “And NFTs offer this possibility of creating something that’s mutable, that can change over time, that can be updated, that can be added to.”

Heterosis will feature a series of NFTs that will evolve over time, with new elements and layers added to the works as they are bought and sold. The project will also include a virtual gallery space where collectors can display their NFTs and interact with other members of the community.

Collishaw sees NFTs as a way to break down the traditional barriers between artists and collectors, allowing for a more democratic and inclusive art world. “It’s a way of creating a new kind of relationship between the artist and the collector, where the collector becomes part of the creative process,” he said.

Heterosis is set to launch later this year, and Collishaw is excited to see how the project will evolve over time. “I’m really interested to see how people respond to it, how they interact with it, how they use it,” he said. “It’s a new frontier, and I think we’re only just scratching the surface of what’s possible.”
