“AI Startup Sapien Secures $10.5M Seed Funding for Data Collection

Sapien, an AI data collection startup, has secured $10.5 million in seed funding led by Variant. Other investors include Primitive Ventures, Animoca, Yield Game Guild, and HF0.

The company, founded by Rowan Stone and Trevor Koverko, aims to incentivize individuals to contribute various data for artificial intelligence use. The Sapien team is developing a system to reward data providers with USDC stablecoins or points for tasks such as tagging everyday objects, marking traffic patterns with mobile devices, or identifying specific cancer cells.

Sapien’s founders bring significant industry experience, with Stone previously co-founding Coinbase’s Base network and Koverko founding Polymath and authoring the RWA standard ERC1400.
