Sapien, an AI data collection startup, has secured a $10.5 million seed round of financing led by Variant, with Primitive Ventures, Animoca, Yield Game Guild, and HF0 participating.
Sapien aims to incentivize individuals to provide diverse data for artificial intelligence use. Led by Rowan Stone, co-founder of Coinbase’s second-layer network Base, and Trevor Koverko, founder of Polymath and author of the RWA standard ERC1400, the Sapien team is developing a system to reward data providers with USDC stablecoins or points. This approach encourages users to contribute data, such as tagging everyday objects or traffic markers using mobile devices, or identifying specific cancer cell types.
