MicroStrategy Executive Chairman Michael Saylor shared a misleading message about Donald Trump’s cryptocurrency policy with his 3.6 million followers on the social platform X, as reported by Cointelegraph on October 31. The statement falsely claimed that Trump supported the elimination of taxes on cryptocurrency and recognized Bitcoin as currency. Investigations traced the origin of this misinformation to a post from the social account Basedkarbon on October 28. The false news was subsequently spread by several prominent cryptocurrency social accounts, including Kraken and Bitcoin Archive. Although Trump recently discussed the idea of eliminating the federal income tax during an interview on Joe Rogan’s podcast, he did not mention any policies related to digital assets.
