Starknet, an Ethereum layer-2 scaling solution, has achieved a new transaction per second (TPS) record, surpassing other layer-2 networks. The project processed 11 million transactions in 24 hours, setting an average TPS of 127.5.
The milestone resulted from a collaborative stress test by StarkWare, game developer Cartridge, and the Starknet Foundation, involving Cartridge’s game “Flippy Flop.” The test aimed to push Starknet’s transaction throughput using simple transactions comparable to other Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) chains.
StarkWare CEO Eli Ben-Sasson highlighted the achievement, emphasizing the potential for mass adoption of decentralized layer-2 solutions like Starknet. He noted that the test had minimal impact on gas fees, demonstrating Starknet’s efficiency under significant load.
Despite lower total value locked (TVL) compared to competitors like Arbitrum and Base, Starknet has gained prominence among Ethereum’s layer-2 solutions due to its advanced cryptographic design and technical strengths.
