DWF Labs Cuts Ties with Partner Accused of Inappropriate Conduct

Crypto venture capital firm DWF Labs has severed ties with a partner accused of attempting to spike a woman’s drink at a Hong Kong event. The company addressed the allegations on October 29, stating that while the matter remains under investigation, it has dismissed the accused partner from management and operational roles effective immediately.

The woman, identified as “Hana,” described the alleged incident in a thread on X (formerly Twitter). She explained that the accused partner approached her under the pretext of discussing a job opportunity, describing her as a “perfect fit” for a project.

During the encounter, Hana left her drink unattended while she went to the restroom. Upon returning and taking a few sips of the beverage, a waitress warned her that someone had tampered with her drink in her absence. Hana reported feeling “extremely dizzy” and alleged that the partner tried to lure her back to his hotel, promising “inside information” in exchange.

DWF Labs emphasized its commitment to a safe, respectful workplace in a formal statement, noting that over half its workforce comprises women. The company stressed that it does not condone any actions that go against its core values of integrity, respect, and accountability.

The firm, which boasts a crypto portfolio worth an estimated $48.7 billion, has faced controversy before. In September 2023, there were allegations of market manipulation, which DWF Labs dismissed as resulting from market dynamics rather than manipulation.

Neither DWF Labs nor the victim has publicly confirmed the partner’s identity. The company expressed solidarity with individuals affected by similar incidents and stated that it is still monitoring the situation.
