Ethereum developers came to a unified agreement regarding the comprehensive Dencun upgrade, which encompasses five Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs).

EIP-4844: Proto-Danksharding for Increased Data Storage

The most significant component of the Dencun upgrade is EIP-4844, the proto-danksharding proposal. This proposal aims to optimize the Ethereum blockchain by allocating more space for “blob” data, resulting in increased data storage capacity. By freeing up additional room for storing non-essential data, EIP-4844 provides a practical solution for the growing data requirements of decentralized applications (DApps) and smart contracts.
