Reviving Italy’s Lost Fruit Varieties: The Art, Science, and Agriculture Connection

Isabella Dalla Ragione is an Italian agronomist who studies Renaissance paintings and forgotten orchards to find lost fruit varieties. She believes that these old breeds are more resistant to climate change than modern ones, and her work is based on her father’s research. Through art, science, and agriculture, she wants to save and revive genetic diversity and change people’s attitudes to recognize its importance.

Her work isn’t limited to Italy, as she has helped replant ancient fruit varieties and held agroecological training in other countries.
