Scientists at the Field Museum in Chicago have been using a mobile CAT scanner to study 26 mummies in their collection. They hope to better understand ancient Egyptian burial practices and the process of mummification by using the new technology to create 3D images of the mummies without causing any damage.
The results are already revealing new insights into the lives of the mummies and their journey into the afterlife.
