HKMA Warns Crypto Firms Misusing ‘Bank’ Title in Hong Kong

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has issued a warning about some cryptocurrency firms that are not licensed banks, but falsely claim to be banks in Hong Kong. The HKMA cautions the public to verify the legitimacy of these claims. These firms are not authorized to operate as banks in Hong Kong and their actions may mislead customers.

The HKMA is urging customers to check the background of these companies and to contact the authority immediately if they suspect any fraudulent activity.
