Bitfinex crypto exchange, recently fell victim to a phishing attack that targeted its customer support staff. The attackers successfully accessed some data within the customer support systems, raising concerns about the security of user information

In a recent statement, Bitfinex assured its users that despite the phishing incident, no core systems were breached, and more importantly, user funds were not affected. The exchange has taken immediate steps to investigate the extent of the breach and has pledged to notify all affected users promptly.

The attackers managed to compromise a member of Bitfinex’s customer support team, gaining unauthorized access to certain data, Bitfinex users can breathe a sigh of relief as the exchange maintains that the core systems, which house sensitive user funds, remain intact. The phishing attack, while a breach of security protocols, did not extend to the heart of Bitfinex’s infrastructure.
