Justin Drake, a core researcher at the Ethereum Foundation (EF), has recently announced a proposal to reset the Ethereum consensus layer, Beam Chain. This change aims to improve Ethereum block generation, staking, and cryptographic consensus, while maintaining high security and performance. Beam Chain will not change the Ethereum roadmap but will introduce a bundle of upcoming changes.
It is expected to formulate specifications in 2025, write raw code and test in 2026, and potentially deploy on the main network.
