Chinese Official Sentenced to Life in Prison for Cryptocurrency Espionage

A Chinese civil servant, Wang Moumou, has been sentenced to life in prison for selling state secrets to foreign agents and earning over a million yuan in cryptocurrency. Wang was struggling with his own crypto investments when he began selling classified documents to foreign intelligence agents. He was discovered after a large sum of money linked to espionage was detected in cryptocurrency.

Wang found an opportunity to make money on online forums and accidentally revealed his civil servant status, leading him to be contacted by foreign agents who offered payment for documents. His case is not unique, as several other crypto-related espionage cases have occurred in China recently.
