Poland has launched an investigation into Crypto.com, one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges in the world. The Polish Financial Supervisory Authority (KNF) is concerned that the company may not have the necessary licenses to provide financial services in Poland. The case has been forwarded to the Warsaw Regional Prosecutor’s Office for further investigation.
This comes after a similar investigation by Dutch financial authorities in March, which resulted in a €3 million fine for Crypto.com. Despite the investigation, Crypto.com maintains that it is compliant with all regulations and has even sued the US financial watchdog for allegedly exceeding its powers.
The new regulations in Poland aim to provide a legal framework for the functioning of cryptocurrency markets and protect investors. Over 600 different companies are listed on the KNF’s warning page for violating Polish financial laws.
