Crypto Moms New Role: Leading the Crypto Task Force

SEC commissioner Hester Peirce, often called “Crypto Mom,” will not take the chance to become the US SEC Chair in the Trump administration. Instead, she will work on a crypto task force to help the regulator navigate the demands of the industry. Peirce, who is completing her term by June 2025, has been in high demand, with many, including Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, advocating for her appointment.

Peirce has advocated for “safe harbors” that allow companies working with emerging technologies like blockchain and AI to operate under regulatory oversight. She has also stated that companies in this space should not fear regulatory actions with no wrongdoing. In addition to Peirce, Republican SEC commissioner Mark Uyeda will work with the Trump administration to end the SEC’s war on crypto.

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has also asked for positive crypto actions in the first 100 days of the Trump administration. There are rumors that Robinhood’s Chief Legal Officer, Dan Gallagher, will replace Gary Gensler as the next SEC Chair.
